Herbert Kuck

October 23, 1921 — January 6, 2011

Herbert “Herb” Kuck, 89 of Ellendale, ND was born October 23, 1921, in Oklahoma. He was the son of Benjamin and Katherina (Dalke) Kuck. At an early age, Herb moved to Lehr, ND where he also attended school. Later he farmed near Ellendale and worked for several years at Jensen Manufacturing in Frederick, SD. In 1975 Herb began working for the City of Ellendale and retired in 1990. After retirement he returned to work at the City of Ellendale where he enjoyed his part-time position at the landfill with his dog Princess at his side. Herb entered Prince of Peace Care Center, Ellendale on December 17, 2010, residing there until his death January 6, 2011. He was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church, Ellendale where he and Marge were also custodians for 14 years. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, visiting with friends and family and going to the Legion Bar. Herb had two special boys keeping him busy, Kyle and Kole Johnson. Survivors include his wife: Marjorie Kuck, Ellendale, ND; four sons: Gary (Corina) Kuck, Hawley, MN, Roger (Linda) Kuck, Rapid City, SD, David (Lory) Bock, Oakes, ND, Michael (fiancée Shirley) Bock, Frederick, SD; one daughter: Jolene (Russell) Langness, Fargo, ND; 21 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one sister: Rose Terrell of Clinton, OK; two nieces: Ida Mae Terrell, Clinton, OK, Norma Gomes, Sacramento, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister: Ida Sheres and Marge’s parents: Art and Loretta Tiede. The funeral is 10:30am Monday at Christ the King Lutheran Church, Ellendale with Pastor Galen Sylvester officiating. Visitation is 2-8pm with a prayer service at 7pm Sunday at Hoven Funeral Chapel, Ellendale and one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be at Ellendale City Cemetery in the spring.
