Darlene D. Rogers

Darlene D. Rogers, 74, of Ellendale, ND died February 23, 2011 at her home in Ellendale. The funeral is 1pm Friday at Hoven Funeral Chapel, Ellendale with Pastor Galen Sylvester officiating. Visitation is one hour prior to the service on Friday. Burial is in the spring at Ellendale City Cemetery. Arrangements by Hoven Funeral Chapel, Ellendale. Darlene Deloris Rogers, known to all as Gretch, was born April 5, 1936 in Ellendale, North Dakota, to Thorn and Hazel Lawson. She grew up in small towns in North Dakota and Minnesota, with her siblings Glenn Lawson, Fern Jetton and Darrel Lawson. She married Harold Silverberg on August 14, 1954 and they had three children: Thorne Patrick, Valerie Anne and Lu Ellen. Harold died in 1982. She married Gordy Rogers on February 3, 1981 and they had a son: Corrie Richard. Gordy died in 1985. After spending most of her life in Minnesota, she moved back to Ellendale, North Dakota and bought the small house her parents once lived in. She was a comfort and joy to her mother Hazel and sister Fern during those years before their deaths. Gretch died comfortably in hospice at her home on February 23, 2011, cared for by her children. She left a vast legacy of love, laughter and hope. She will be dearly missed.
