Emma Meyer

Emma Meyer, 97 of Aberdeen, SD formerly of Forbes, ND was born October 2, 1913, in rural Forbes, ND. She was the daughter of Friederich & Magdalena (Wolff) Meyer. She was educated at country school and later attended State Normal and Industrial College in Ellendale. Emma’s employment opportunities included care giving for young and old, restaurant work and holding various positions at the Wisconsin Retirement Home. After retiring from the Wisconsin Retirement Home, she returned to Forbes where she enjoyed gardening, letter writing, reading, painting, visiting and babysitting for various families. In December 2000, Emma moved to Ellendale, ND where she resided at the 32-Plex. In March, 2005, she moved to Mother Joseph Manor in Aberdeen, SD where she resided until her death April 1, 2011. Emma was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Forbes. Survivors include one sister: Ruth (Hal) Stevens, Melette, SD; sister-in-law: Eleanor Meyer, Las Cruces, NM; brother-in-law: Phillip Walz, Ellendale, ND; great-grandnephew: Bernie (Brenda) Rall, Forbes, ND; three great-great-grandnephews: Brent Rall, Guelph, ND, Brandon Rall of Fullerton, ND, Derek Rall, Forbes, ND; one great-great-grandniece: Isis Rall, Forbes, ND and many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her twin sister Pauline Walz and three brothers: Paul, Ernest and David. Visitation is 9am to 1pm Monday. The funeral service is 1pm Monday with Pastor Alan Eppen officiating. All services will be at Hoven Funeral Chapel, Ellendale, ND. Burial will be later in the spring at Ellendale City Cemetery.
