Lourentena “Tena” Schock, 91 of Jamestown, ND formerly of Ellendale and Forbes, ND area died June 20, 2011 at Ave Maria Village, Jamestown, ND. The funeral will be 10:30am Saturday, June 25 at Hoven Funeral Chapel, Ellendale with Pastor Scott Block officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Burial will be at Ellendale City Cemetery. Arrangements by Hoven Funeral Chapel. Lourentena “Tena” Schock was born December 26, 1919, on a farm near Long Lake, SD. She was the daughter of John D. and Eva (Gienger) Heyd. Tena was baptized and confirmed at the Salem Lutheran Church near Long Lake. She attended country school near her home and helped on the family farm until 1938 when she went to work in Aberdeen, SD. On July 13, 1941, Tena married Edwin A. Schock. They lived and farmed 10 miles west of Forbes, ND for 51 years. They sold the farm, retired and moved to Ellendale, ND. They became members of Zion Lutheran Church, Ellendale and Tena was a member of the LWML. Edwin died June 20, 1995, and Tena continued to reside in Ellendale until June 1998 when she moved to Jamestown, ND. In December 2007, she became a member of Atonement Lutheran Church in Jamestown. She enjoyed making quilts, crocheting and raising flowers. Tena died June 20, 2011, at Ave Maria Village in Jamestown. Tena is survived by two daughters: Rosella (Lary) Olson of Jamestown, ND, Betty (Lyle) Berglund, Appleton, MN; six granddaughters: Susan (Scott) Jorissen, Tracy (Rick) Berglund, Tina (Robert) Braun, Paula (Michael) Parker, Hope (David) Bill; Holly (Brian) Bentrup; nine great grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one granddaughter, Allison; four brothers: Julius, Edward, John and Rudolph Heyd; three sisters: Lydia Martell, Lea Guthmiller, Rose Baumbach, nieces and nephews.
