Lois Irene Mueller, was born March 15, 1943, to Rudolph and Ellen (Johnson) Lorensberg in Webster, S.D. Lois was baptized at Fron Lutheran Church, rural Roslyn, S.D. She attended country school through the eighth grade at Independence 202 and graduated from Roslyn High School in 1961. She attended Northern State Teachers College in Aberdeen, S.D., completing a two-year Secretarial Science Degree. She was employed by the state of South Dakota Employment Security Department for 11 years. On Dec. 18, 1971, Lois married Dennis Mueller at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Aberdeen. After their marriage, Lois continued working for the state until her daughter, Michelle, was born. She then dedicated her time to raising Michelle and helping Dennis run their farm and ranch operation. On July 11, 2006, Dennis died and Lois continued living on the farm. Lois was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church, Ellendale, where Lois was organist and pianist for over 30 years. She was also very active with the American Legion & Ladies Auxiliary, Red Hat Society and Ellendale community. Lois was a genuine friend and cared about everyone. She was always there to lend a hand for whatever was needed whether it was a ride, baked goodies or just to lend an ear or give some encouragement. Music was a huge part of her life ever since she was little. When Lois played the piano and organ, you knew that she really felt the music. She also loved to dance, especially the waltz, polka and shoddish dances. Lois cherished her family and friends and was always interested in learning more about family history. No one could make beef gravy, apple pies or caramel rolls like her (Michelle attributes a lot of her childhood friends to those!) We will miss all of her talents, her jovial giggle and her friendship. Lois died suddenly Oct. 5, 2011, at the Oakes Community Hospital, Oakes, N.D. Survivors include one daughter: Michelle Mueller (Darren Demel) of Wichita, Kan.; two brothers: Arnold “Kenny” (Stella) Lorensberg, Clear Lake, S.D., and Raydon Lorensberg, Roslyn, S.D. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one granddaughter: Claire Lorene, and one sister-in-law: Ardys Lorensberg.
