Lilian D. Hamar, 90, of Ellendale, ND died June 18, 2012 at ManorCare Rehab, Aberdeen, SD. At Lilian’s request, there will be a private family service Thursday, June 21, 2012 at Hoven Funeral Chapel, Ellendale with Pastor Rick Fossum of McCabe United Methodist Church, Bismarck, ND officiating. Burial will be at Ellendale City Cemetery. Arrangements by Hoven Funeral Chapel, Ellendale. Lilian was born March 7, 1922, in Kulm, ND. She was the daughter of Mattias and Katherina Hein Dobler. On June 15, 1941, Lilian married Lowell Edward Hamar in Ellendale. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Past Worthy Matron of Adah Chapter #8, McCabe United Methodist Church of Bismarck and Bismarck Kennel Club. She was an Accredited Record Technician at Memorial Hospital in Ellendale. Lilian enjoyed knitting, cooking, showing and spending time with her dogs, and being with her family. Lilian was also an avid sports fan and attended every Bismarck Wizards game. Lilian was an endless source of love, wisdom and inspiration. She was a survivor of life’s trials tribulations and challenges and through her Christian faith, touched many people with whom she came in contact. Survivors include two sons: Dr. Steven (Donna) Hamar, Mandan, Joel (Betty) Hamar, Ellendale; three daughters: Mrs. (Nora) Douglas Kane, Bismarck, Mrs. (Lorelei) Thomas Maier, Ellendale, Mrs. (Alicia) Jeffrey Boyle, Ellendale; 19 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren; two nieces: Mrs. (Kathy) Willie Ziegler, Jamestown and Mrs. (Jean) Wes Almquist, Hopkins, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband, one grandchild and two great grandchildren. Memorials may be sent to University of Mary under the Lowell and Lilian Hamar Memorial Scholarship Fund for Respiratory Therapy in Bismarck, ND or McCabe United Methodist Church, Bismarck, ND.
