Ida C. Kellogg

Ida C. Kellogg, 98, of Ellendale, ND died November 24, 2012 at Evergreen Place, Ellendale. She was born April 30, 1914 to Gustave and Lena (Briske) Gebhardt in Hamburg township near Monango, ND. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Monango. She was educated at country school. After her education she worked for various neighbors to help support her younger siblings. On October 15, 1937 Ida married Paul Kellogg in Aberdeen, SD. Together they farmed raising sheep and hogs. In 1962 Ida and Paul retired and William and Kenneth took over the farming operation. She remained on the farm until 1985 when she moved to Ellendale. In 2006 she moved to Evergreen Place in Ellendale where she resided until her death. Ida enjoyed embroidery, crocheting and gardening. She was a member of Presbyterian United Methodist Church, Ellendale since 1937 and an active member of Hope Circle. Grateful to have shared in her life are her two sons: William (Mary) Kellogg, Niangua, MO, Kenneth (Rachel) Kellogg, Monango, ND; one daughter: Carol (Russell) Pitner, Hixson, TN, three sisters: Alma Connell, Olympia, WA, Ruth (Charles) Smith, Alpine, CA, Esther Henderson, El Cajon, CA, three granddaughters: Christie P. (Rob) Brisbane, Tiffany Pitner, Katrina Pitner; four step-grandchildren: Gerald (Brenda), Keith (Connie) and Paul (Stephanie Johnson) Rekow and Linda (Rod) Saurer; nine step-great grandchildren and one step-great-great grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, five brothers: Arthur, Albert, Walter, Elmer and Lawrence Gebhardt and three sisters: Edna Hurley, Marie Gebhardt and Helen West. The funeral is 11am Tuesday, November 27 at Presbyterian United Methodist Church, Ellendale with Pastor Paul Henschen officiating. Visitation is 3-7pm Monday and prayer service at 7pm all at Hoven Funeral Chapel Funeral Chapel, Ellendale. Burial is at Ellendale City Cemetery. Arrangements by Hoven Funeral Chapel.
