Adeline Brandenburger

Adeline Brandenburger, 90, of Aberdeen, SD formerly of Ellendale, ND died March 16, 2013 at Manor Care Health Services in Aberdeen. She was born March 14, 1923 to John Jr. & Hannah (Schweigert) Franz near Kulm in McIntosh County, ND. She attended country school in the Antelope School district near Kulm, ND. She married Fred Brandenburger June 14, 1947 in Ellendale. After their marriage they farmed near Kulm from 1947 to 1973 at which time they semi-retired and moved to Ellendale. She worked as a nurses aide at the Dickey County Memorial Hospital in Ellendale. Later she was a nursing assistant at Prince of Peace Care Center, Ellendale for a number of years. Fred died January 7, 1984. Adeline enjoyed gardening, embroidery, reading, sewing, visiting and letter writing. She was known for her fabulous pickles and kuchen. Adeline was a member and active in the Kulm Seventh Day Adventist Church and later the Ellendale Seventh Day Adventist Church. She is survived by two sons: Anthony “Tony” (Peggy) Brandenburger, Ellendale, ND, Steven John (Nelly) Brandenburger, Minneapolis, MN; one daughter: Connie (Larry) Brandenburger-La Belle, Corcoran, MN; four grandchildren: Julie Nelson, Christopher and David La Belle and Jacob Brandenburger; two step-grandchildren: Kelly La Belle-Lewis, Peter Kaganovski; two great-grandchildren: Emily and Madeline Nelson; three step-great grandchildren: Benjamin, Madeline and Ellison Lewis; one sister: Anna May (Harlyn) Brenneise, Fargo, ND and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother Arthur Franz and two infant sisters. The funeral service is 11:00am Wednesday, March 20 at Presbyterian United Methodist Church, Ellendale with Pastor Robert Forbes officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the spring at Ellendale City Cemetery. Arrangements by Hoven Funeral Chapel, Ellendale.
