Warren Paul Wedell

Warren Paul Wedell, 72, of Ellendale, ND died June 21st, 2014 at Sanford Health, Fargo, ND from complications with pneumonia. He was born July 5th, 1941 to Paul H. and Paula (Staehr) Wedell at the family farm near Ellendale, ND. He was educated in Ellendale graduating in 1959. Shortly after graduation he entered the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1961. Warren worked as an electrical lineman for a short time then returned to the family farm which he later purchased from his father. In 1963, Warren married Sandra Pederson of Pelican Rapids, MN. In addition to farming, he became a part-time rural mail carrier in Oakes and then full time in Ellendale before his retirement in 2010. In all, he had greater than 20 years of Federal Service between the U.S. Army and the U.S. Postal Service. Warren was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Ellendale and the American Legion, Herman-Schlinker Post #137. He enjoyed time with his grandkids, ranching, researching family history, welding, rebuilding windmills, and card games. He is survived by his two sons: Tony (Sara) Wedell, Otsego, MN, Stuart (Heidi) Wedell, West Fargo, ND; one daughter: Vanessa Wedell (Rick Bruns), West Fargo, ND; eight grandkids: Hunter Wedell, RyLee Jo Wedell, Karsten Wedell, Blaze Sigmund, Savannah Wedell, Austin Wedell, Erin Wedell, Ava Wedell and one sister: Mardella Martin, Pelican Rapids, MN. Warren was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Derril Wedell. A memorial service is 2:30pm Wednesday, June 25 at Hoven Funeral Chapel, Ellendale with Pastor Tim Brown officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the memorial service on Wednesday. Arrangements by Hoven Funeral Chapel, Ellendale. After the memorial service, a time of fellowship will be held at the Wedell Farm 8695 94 St SE, Ellendale. Directions from Ellendale: 3 miles north on Hwy 281 then 2 miles west on 94 St SE.
