Charlotte J. Ubben, 84, Apache Junction, AZ, died October 3, 2013. A memorial service is 1:30pm Sunday, September 14, 2014 at Fullerton Union Church, Fullerton, ND with Pastor Dave Bennett officiating. A private burial will be at a later date in Maple View Cemetery, Fullerton. Arrangements by Hoven Funeral Chapel, Ellendale, ND. Charlotte J. (Beilke) Ubben was born June 2, 1929 in Bowler, Wisconsin to Art and Leondina (Kries) Bielke. The Beilke family moved from Wisconsin to Monango ND shortly after her birth. Her father was killed in an auto accident when she was only one year old. Charlotte attended and graduated from Monango High School in 1947. She played girls basketball for Monango. A proud moment for her was when their 1945 team won the state championship. She continued her education at Ellendale Normal Industrial School and went on to teach for two years. Charlotte married Donald Ubben on August 11, 1950 in Webster SD. These soul mates shared 63 golden years together. They lived in several places in North and South Dakota as they started their family and they were blessed with two sons, Bruce and Dennis. In 1956 they moved to southern California, which would be their home until they retired in 1989. At this time they sold their home and purchased an RV. They loved traveling all over the United States. They went between winter homes in the south and summer in North Dakota for the next 15 years. They came to love Arizona the best and made Apache Junction their full-time residence until her unexpected death on October 3, 2013. Charlotte was a great planner. She loved planning parties and events for entertaining her family and friends. Her home was always a gathering place where great times were had by all. Charlotte was an avid bowler. She and Don square danced for many years. She was very involved in Sierra Del Saguaro RV park activities from pinochle games at the club house, participating in Sierra Days, working with Sierra Belles group and countless other things. She was a member and vice president of the Red Hat Club. She leaves many happy memories for her friends and extended family. Charlotte is missed greatly by her husband of 63 years, Don, two sons, Bruce (Cathy) Ubben of Valley Center CA ; Dennis (Susan) Ubben of Midway GA; Grandchildren, Carey (Randy) Clark; Jessie Ubben and Katie West; and four Great Grandchildren Brandon, Brian, and Breanna West and Cameron Clark. She is also survived by three sisters, Mildred Fiechtner, Bismarck, ND, Lois Peldo, Fargo ND, Norma Anderson, Nampa ID and brother, Jim (Rhonda) Miller, Scottsdale, AZ. She was preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter Brenda Merritt, 2 brothers-in-law Victor Fiechtner and Robert Peldo.
