Mildred M. Genter, 81 of Jamestown, ND formerly of Monango and Ellendale, ND was born April 20, 1927, in Hamburg township west of Monango, ND. She was the daughter of Jacob and Anna (Roeszler) Mammel. Mildred was raised and attended elementary school in Merricourt, ND. She attended Monango High School for three years during which time Mildred boarded with other students in town during the week and returned home on the weekends. Later she moved with her parents to Ellendale where she graduated from Ellendale High School in 1944. After graduation she attended Ellendale State Normal and Industrial College and taught grades 1-8 in a rural school for one year. On April 20, 1944, Mildred married Lawrence Genter at Zion Lutheran Church in Ellendale. They farmed together near Monango until 1982 when they moved to Ellendale. On April 20, 1996, Mildred and Lawrence celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Lawrence died May 30, 1996 and Mildred continued to reside in Ellendale until she moved to Jamestown in 2007. On October 24, 2008, Mildred died at her home in Jamestown, ND. Mildred was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Monango where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the LWML. When they moved to Ellendale, they transferred to Zion Lutheran Church. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, reading, doing word puzzles, quilting, baking and taking care of her family and friends. She was a Blood Donor and gave until she was unable to donate. Her home was always open and the coffee was always on. Grateful to have shared in her life are one son: Larry (Shirly) Genter of Jamestown, ND; three daughters: Judy (Ken) Rehling of Hebron, ND; Jane (Sarles) Bredeson of Enumclaw, WA; Sue (Ken) Fiechtner of Glenfield, ND; eight grandchildren: Lori (Aaron) Roberts, Sarah (John) Kvidt, Jill (Matt) Vollmers, Tara (Mike) Hinrichs, Jason (Miranda) Bredeson, Megan (Kipp) Sparrow, Corey (Melissa) Genter, Jay Rehling; 14 great grandchildren; one brother Willard (Mary) Mammel of Piedmont, SD and one aunt Pat Zimmerman of Jamestown, ND; one brother-in-law Elmer Genter of Monango, ND; one sister-in-law: Agnes Gross of Miller, SD; Nieces, Nephews, and Dear Friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother, James. Visitation is 2-8pm Tuesday with a prayer service at 7pm at Hoven Funeral Chapel. The funeral service is 10:30am Wednesday with visitation one hour prior to the service at Zion Lutheran Church, Ellendale with Pastors Tyson Labuhn and Jason Bredeson (her grandson) officiating.
