Betty Jane Reinke

Betty Jane (Davis) Reinke, 79, of Ellendale, ND died March 30, 2015 at Avera St. Luke's Hospital, Aberdeen, SD. Betty was born at home August, 18 1935 to George and Bertha (Haase) Davis, rural Kulm, ND. She attended country school and resided in Dickey County her entire life. Betty married Lloyd Reinke June 14, 1952. Together they farmed and raised livestock. Betty worked hard in every aspect of the operation. In 1973, Betty moved to Ellendale where she worked at the Coast-to-Coast store and tended bar. In addition to those jobs, Betty was known for her excellent seamstress abilities. She was willing to tackle any sewing, alteration or mending project completing it meticulously. Betty shared her skills as a tidy housekeeper, assisting a few local women with the upkeep of their homes. Bowling was one of Betty's favorite hobbies in which she excelled. Throughout the years she bowled on several leagues and enjoyed travelling to bowling tournaments in North Dakota. Betty also served as bookkeeper and secretary for her bowling leagues. Betty was always up for traveling. Over the years she saw many places including California, Arizona, Hawaii and Las Vegas and Marti Gras in New Orleans. Betty soaked-in the experiences and made the most of them. She also enjoyed the outdoors and excitement on many deer hunting trips with family and friends from 1981 to 2006. For many years it was a common weekly ritual for Betty to set out with either Mike or a group of local ladies for the bingo hall or casino. Betty also assisted at the local American Legion's weekly bingo event. She lived life to the fullest. Most important to Betty was her family. From graduations to weddings and beyond, she always made the effort to partake in these special moments with her loved ones. Betty was a special lady and will be missed by many. She is survived by her children; Barbara Lacina, Ypsilanti, ND, Darla (Keith) Christensen, Elbow Lake, MN and Michael Reinke, Ellendale, ND; grandchildren: Billy Lacina, Melissa (Mike) Tvedt, Lisa (Sean) Twomey, Kaitlin Reinke; great-grandchildren: Dalton and Dylan Lacina, Augustus, Delaney and Jack Tvedt; sisters: Erma Schrum, Forbes, ND, Esther Sowers, Lodi, CA, Ruby Martinson, Kulm, ND; brother: Glenn, Meadow Vista, CA; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Walter and Arthur; brothers-in-law: Jake Schrum, Orville Sowers, Roy Martinson; infant sister: Irene and nephew Buddy Sowers. The funeral is 10am Monday, April 6 at Hoven Funeral Chapel, Ellendale with Pastor Tim Brown officiating. Visitation is one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial is at Ellendale City Cemetery.
