Genevieve M Rempfer

Genevieve M. Rempfer, 97 of Ellendale, ND died April 4, 2015 at Prince of Peace Care Center, Ellendale. Mass of Christian Burial is 10am Friday, April 10 at St. Helena’s Catholic Church, Ellendale with Father John F. Kizito as Celebrant. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial is at St. Helena’s Church Cemetery. Arrangements by Hoven Funeral Chapel, Ellendale. Genevieve Rempfer was born February 21, 1918 to Valentine Rudolph and Anna (Kapaun) Orth in Cogswell, ND where she was raised and educated. She graduated from High School in 1936 and later attended State Normal and Industrial College, Ellendale branch, where she earned her commercial certificate. She was then employed in the office of Attorney F.J. Graham in Ellendale and later on in a law office in Minneapolis. On February 25, 1946, Genevieve married Jacob Rempfer at St. Helen’s Catholic Church in Ellendale. She spent several years raising her young family before returning to work. She worked for several businesses in Ellendale including Redmond Hardware, the UND-EB college, the Soil Conservation Services office, and at Attorney J.B. Graham’s law office until retiring in 1983. She was a member of St. Helena’s Catholic Church, the church Altar Society and taught Catechism for two years. She was a charter member of the Dickey County Ladies Auxiliary Post 3545, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and was an active member of the Ellendale Historical Society. Her hobbies included watching sports, sewing club, playing cards, fishing, crocheting and crafts. She is survived by her children: Judy Rempfer of Jamestown, ND, Jerry (Charlotte) Rempfer of North Bend, WA, Christine (Dennis) Larson of Aberdeen, SD, Jeffrey Rempfer of Las Vegas, NV; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, one infant sister, one half-brother, two half-sisters and one grandchild.
