Kathleen D Carlson

Kathleen D. Carlson, 70, of Ipswich, SD formerly of Ellendale, ND died November 19, 2015 at her home near Ipswich. Kathleen was born in Aberdeen, SD to Delbert and Katherine (Delzer) Smith on September 19, 1945. She grew up and attended school in Ellendale, ND. She graduated from Stewarts Hairstyling School in Aberdeen. After passing her state boards, she opened her own shop in Ellendale. She did hair for many years until her passion for cooking took over and she preceded to run her own restaurant, catering to the local clientele. She took pride in everything she did from hair curlers to chocolate curls. She retired from the food industry in 2012. Blessed to have shared in her love of life are Muffy & Missy, her constant companions; daughter: Juleen “Jo” Haak, Ipswich, SD; son: Jeff McFarland, International Falls, MN; grandchildren: Seth Brown, Forbes, ND, Echo Cunningham, Beardsley, MN, Kaitlin Reinke, West Fargo, ND, Tyler McFarland, New Richmond, MN, Tadd McFarland, Fargo, ND, Tray McFarland, Moorhead, MN and her great grandchildren: Natalie, Wyatt, Justyce, Kaleb, Aviella, Adean, Brandee, Hunter and Trinity. Sister: Jeanette Robb, Ellendale, ND and the good friends she considered family. She was preceded in death by her parents. Kathleen will be deeply missed by her family and friends but greater plans lay ahead of her. To think of the feast she will have planned when we are all together once again. We Love You. A memorial service will be 10am Monday, November 23 at Hoven Funeral Chapel, Ellendale, with Pastor Andra L. Kee officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Monday.
