Elmer A. Genter

Elmer A. “Breezy” Genter, 95 of Monango, ND died December 4, 2015 at Sanford Regional Medical Center, Aberdeen, SD. Elmer was born August 22, 1920 to Otto and Fredericka (Gebhardt) Genter in Hamburg Township. He was raised and educated there. On November 7, 1943 Elmer married Ida Feickert in Monango. Together they had five children. Elmer resided on his farm near Monango working the land and raising cattle, sheep and pigs. For a few years he and his family moved to Lancaster, CA where he worked for L&H Paving doing construction work. There he also coached the Connie Mack baseball team fulfilling his love for baseball. Elmer was an avid reader, hunter and fisherman, which he passed on to his children and grandchildren. He was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Monango and upon it’s closure he transferred his membership to Zion Lutheran Church, Ellendale. His love of music showed through his many years in the choir. He was also a member of Herman-Schlinker Post #137 for 27 years. Elmer is survived by his sons: Steve (special friend Dee) Genter, Bismarck, ND; David (Nancy) Genter, Ellendale, ND; daughters: Gayle (Don) Haussler, Oakes, ND; Sally (Gary) Brovold, Kulm, ND; daughter-in-law: Lisa (the late Paul Genter), Bismarck, ND; eight grandchildren: Christy (Gabe) Hill, Maricopa, AZ; Jill (Dion) Joura, Peoria, AZ; Jason (Krystal) Genter, Colorado Springs, CO; Justin (Nicole) Genter, Bismarck, ND; Tami (Patrick) Klubben, St. Peter, MN; Teri (Tanner) Jondahl, Aberdeen, SD; Kate Brovold, Bismarck, ND; Jeremy Genter, Ellendale, ND; 14 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren, one sister: Agnes Gross, Miller, SD and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son Paul, brother Lawrence, and sister Myrna Presler. Elmer was loved and cherished by his family and will be missed by all who knew him. His sense of humor and wit will be remembered forever. The funeral is 11am Thursday, December 10 at Zion Lutheran Church, Ellendale, ND with Pastor Paul Preus officiating. Visitation is at the church from 9:30am to time of service. Burial is at Ellendale City Cemetery. Arrangements by Hoven Funeral Chapel, Ellendale.
