Arthur A. Wall, 88 of Forbes, ND died January 3, 2016 at his farm near Forbes. Art was born April 11, 1927 to John and Adelina (Schwartz) Wall at the family farm north of Coldwater Lake. Art attended Coldwater Township School in McIntosh County, ND for eight years. At 12 years old, Art began helping on the farm doing fieldwork with horse-drawn equipment. In 1943 the family moved to a farm northeast of Forbes. Art spent several winters in Omaha, NE where he was employed at a cold storage and poultry processing plant. He farmed with his father until 1948 when his parents retired and moved to Ellendale. He continued farming until his death. Art married Inga Brandenburger on December 22, 1948. They resided on the farm raising their three children Darlene, Darell and Dennis. The highlight of their marriage was the celebrations of their 35th and 50th wedding anniversaries with their community. Art served as director on the Farmers Union Oil board for 27 years. He also served on the Dickey County ASC Board and Elm Township Board for 17 years. He was a member of Coldwater Wildlife Club, Couteau Hills Historical Society, Dickey County Historical Society, Dickey County Farmers Union, Bethlehem Lutheran Church, and Eagles Club. He enjoyed grain and beef production as well as custom cutting silage and doing welding repairs for neighbors. One of his most satisfying accomplishments was planting 20 acres of trees. Survivors include sons: Darell (Marilyn) Wall, Forbes, ND, Dennis Wall and Wally, Mesa, AZ, daughter: Darlene (Jeff) Hallem, Pierre, SD; Grandchildren: Sheryl Roesler, Alan Berheim, Pamela Henningsen, John Wall, Sue Urlacher; Great Grandchildren: Joshua & Brandon Berheim, Clayton, Wyatt & Paige Henningsen, Aubrey, Addison & Annika Wall, Connor Urlacher; sister: Lorraine Tejral, Talmage, NE. Art was preceded in death by his wife Inga of 60 years; his parents, sister: Alvina Taylor Baker; and brothers: LeRoy and Herbert. The funeral is 10:30am Saturday, January 9 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Forbes with Pastor Alan Eppen officiating. Visitation is Friday 2-7pm with a prayer service at 5:30pm at Hoven Funeral Chapel, Ellendale. Visitation continues one hour prior services at the church in Forbes.
