Esther D. Shuldheisz, 90, of Monango, ND was born February 13, 1919, in Streeter, ND. She was the daughter of Jacob and Katherine (Bohnet) Dockter. Esther was raised and educated in Fredonia. After her education Esther married Roy Shuldheisz on May 18, 1935, in Napoleon, ND. Together they farmed near Kulm and in 1948 they moved to a farm near Monango. Esther worked at Prince of Peace Care Center (1978-1992) and also The Fashion Loft and Wild Bills Western Store all in Ellendale. They farmed until 1985. Esther continued to live on the farm until she entered Prince of Peace Care Center, Ellendale in 2008. Esther died June 19, 2009, at Prince of Peace Care Center. Esther was a member of Albion Lutheran Church, rural Ellendale. She loved to cook and bake and her presentation of her cooking and baking was always the best. She also enjoyed sewing, gardening, canning and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Grateful to have shared in her life are her five children: Priscilla (Budd) Benfit, Billings, MT, Sylvia Dobler, Ellendale, ND, Roy Shuldheisz Jr., Monango, ND, Deborah (Dave) Janz, Dickinson, ND, John Shuldheisz, Monango, ND; 10 grandchildren: Robert (Linda) Benfit, Kim Benfit, Rebecca Benfit, Troy (Kristi) Benfit, Brad Dobler, Kari (James) Hannum, Ken Janz, Melody (Gary) McClannahan, Amber Shuldheisz, Joseph Shuldheisz; 12 great-grandchildren: Rachel (Jason) Tabron, Joshua (Nani) Whitcher, Teddy, Nathan (Barb) & Maya Benfit, Michael & Grace Hannum, Katherine & Jessica Janz, Matt, Ben & Sean McClannahan; five great-great-grandchildren: Jada & Jasmine Tabron, Elijah, Damien & Dalton Whitcher; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister: Mathilda Wolf; five brothers: Jacob (Tillie), Rudolph, Arthur (Ann), Harry, Clarence (Lou); one grandson: Steven Dobler and one great-grandson: Patrick Hannum. The funeral is 11am Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church, Ellendale with Pastor Tyson Labuhn officiating. Visitation is 2-6pm Wednesday with a prayer service at 5pm all at Hoven Funeral Chapel, Ellendale. Burial is at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, rural Kulm, ND.
