Kenda M. Lefforge

Kenda M. Lefforge, 59, of Ellendale, ND, passed away March 28, 2017 at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital in Aberdeen, SD. Kenda was born April 13, 1957 in Ellendale to Rueben and Marcella (Forster) Schlenker. She attended Ellendale public schools, graduating in 1975. She attended Presentation College in Aberdeen and then NDSCS in Wahapeton where she graduated with an Associates Degree in Nursing. Kenda married John Lefforge on May 10, 1980 at Presbyterian United Methodist Church in Ellendale. She helped John with his aerial spraying business for over 30 years. She loved spending time with family and friends, attending family events, collecting Boyds Bears and owls with her daughter, shopping, cooking, as she was always looking for new recipes to try. She will be remembered for being a devoted wife, mother and daughter, for putting others ahead of herself and her famous cookie salad at family gatherings. She was a member of Presbyterian United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband John of 36 years, daughter: Kristin and mother: Marcella Schlenker, all of Ellendale, ND. Brother: Kevin Schlenker of Huron, SD; uncles: Ivan (Lorentina) Schlenker of Eureka, SD, Oscar (Frieda) Schlenker of Aberdeen, SD; aunt: Lorriane Forster of Hankinson, ND. Brothers-in-law: Chuck and Gary Lefforge; Jerry (Tammy) Lefforge; Tim (Penny) Lefforge all of Mansfield, SD, Jeff (Dana) Lefforge of Redfield, SD; Terry (Lori) Lefforge of Bonnie, IL; Bob (Jackie) Lefforge of Sioux Falls, SD. Sisters-in-law: Susan (Scott) Sueltz of Groton, SD, and Patti Lefforge of Aberdeen, SD; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by he father Rueben, her maternal and paternal grandparents, her father & mother-in-law Charles and Shirley Lefforge and sister-in-law Linda Lefforge. The funeral is 2pm Saturday, April 1 at Presbyterian United Methodist Church, Ellendale with Pastor Paul Henschen officiating. Visitation is 2-7pm Friday with a prayer service at 5:30pm all at Hoven Funeral Chapel. Visitation continues one hour prior to church services. Burial is at Ellendale City Cemetery.
