Jean C. Hill

Jean Carol (Miller) Hill died June 30, 2017 at Good Samaritan Society, Oakes. She was 96 years and two months. Jean was born April 30, 1921 to Clarence John and Fern Elva (Waller) Miller in Freeport, IL. She was educated at the Lidgerwood and Ellendale, ND public schools. Jean married Eino Hill on September 19, 1941 in Hecla, SD. Jean had a zest for life, she was quick witted and full of spunk. She loved her family and wished her children and grandchildren lived close by. Jean enjoyed reading her daily newspapers, always completing the crossword puzzles. She was strong in her political views, kept up-to-date on all the Hollywood happenings and cherished her morning chats with the girls at coffee. Jean had a vivid imagination, always telling tales of her adventures. She was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church, Ellendale. Jean is survived by her children: Virginia (Arlan) Tietel, Woodbury, MN, Patricia (Carl) Lee, Ellendale, ND, James (Patty) Hill, West Fargo, ND; grandchildren: Mike (Nicole) Tietel, Steve (Lynn) Tietel, Kevin Lee (Julissa Ayala), Jeremy Lee, Aaron Hill (Laura Cruff), Amy Hill, Justin Hill; great-grandchildren: Jordan Lee, Shelby Tietel, Riley Tietel, James Lee; brother: Gary (Rose) Jorgens, Lincoln, NE and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eino Hill; son, Richard Hill; grandson, Christopher Lee; parents and three brothers. A memorial service is 2:00pm Friday, July 7 at Christ the King Lutheran Church, Ellendale with Pastor Galen Sylvester officiating. Visitation is one hour prior to church services. A private burial will be held at North Savo Apostolic Lutheran Cemetery, rural Frederick, SD. Arrangements by Hoven Funeral Chapel, Ellendale. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Christ the King Lutheran Church of Ellendale or Ellendale Senior Center.
