John Richard Beringer

John “Jack Jake” Richard Beringer 73, Ellendale, ND died November 15, 2017 at Sanford Health on Broadway, Fargo, ND. Jake was born April 3, 1944 to John and Lillian (Schmitz) Beringer. He was raised in Perham, MN where he attended St. Henry’s Catholic School through the 8th grade graduating from Perham Public School in 1962. He furthered his education at NDSU where he graduated from pharmacy school. On February 18, 1967 Jake married Karen Wendt at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dent, MN and moved to Iowa. They were in Iowa a few years then moved to Fargo, ND where he was employed at Osco Drug. In 1971 they moved to Ellendale where Jake worked and later purchased Anderson Drug Store and the Edgeley Prescription Shop. Jake retired in 2010 and continued to reside in Ellendale and spent time at his Minnesota lake cabin on Little Pine Lake. Jake enjoyed antiquing, pawnshops and flea markets in hopes in finding the next Antiques Road Show treasure. Jake loved playing cards, pulling tabs and going to the casinos. Jake collected numerous items including: coins, guns and broken watches (willing to part with). Jake was the master at making popcorn and popcorn balls. His sense of humor put smiles on faces and his graciousness touched many. He will be dearly missed by his wife, family and friends. Survivors include his wife Karen, Ellendale, ND; his children: Andre (Chris) Beringer, Leah and Andrew of Aberdeen, SD. Laura (Jeff) Hitland, Jacob and Matthew of Randolph, NJ. John (Maria) Beringer, Jack, Kennedy, Luke and Elle of Lake Park, MN. Josh Beringer of Alexandria, MN; brother: Tony (Colene) Beringer, Newport Beach, CA; many nieces, nephews and his special dog Peeps. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Pat Puhrman. The memorial service is 2pm Tuesday, November 21 at St. Helena’s Catholic Church, Ellendale with Father Jason Asselin officiating. Visitation is one hour prior to services at the church. There will be a private burial at a later date. Arrangements by Hoven Funeral Chapel, Ellendale.
