Arvid H. Mittleider

Arvid H. Mittleider, 85, of Ellendale, ND went home to his Lord on February 5, 2018 at his home. He was born February 15, 1932 to Jacob and Martha (Melhoff) Mittleider at Coleharbor, ND. Arvid was raised at Garrison, ND where he also attended country school. After his diploma of the 9th grade he helped his father on the family farm until he began working for an electric plant. Later he moved with his parents to Ellendale where he worked at Normal and Industrial College in Ellendale. On May 20, 1955 Arvid married Eva Watson at First Baptist Church, Ellendale. Arvid continued working at the college until he began employment with Harold Billey for 14 years. Arvid and Eva purchased their home in 1968 where they raised their children. Arvid farmed and raised livestock. He retired in 1988 and continued to live on the farm. Arvid was a member of the Maude Evans Saddle Club and First Baptist Church of Ellendale which he enjoyed attending, the fellowship of the members and Pastor Raynor in his sermons and faithful visits; they brought him great joy and encouragement. He enjoyed going to auction sales, riding horse and watching his children and grandchildren at their sporting events. Arvid is survived by his wife of 62 years, Eva Mittleider, Ellendale; his children: Casildra (Dennis) Kummer, Westport, WA, Ferell (Virgil) Otterstetter, Aberdeen, WA, Wonada (Daryl) Lematta, Ellendale, ND, Robin (Dean) Geffre, Leola, SD, Chadwick (Danielle) Mittleider, Montesano, WA, Garrett (Amy) Mittleider, Fredrick, SD; 18 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; brother: Arlo (Sheryal) Mittleider, Page, ND; sisters: Evangline Stuber, La Crescenta, CA, Randy (Harry) Johnson, Harvey, ND, Joann (Bennie) Digenstein, Minot, ND and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant brother Alvin, three sisters: Lillian West, Eleanor Meyer and Bernice Steinwand. The family is eternally grateful to Christ our Lord whose faithful care and salvation of Dad is our hope of eternal life and eternity together. Praise to Jesus Christ the Author of Salvation. The funeral is 10:30am Monday, February 12 at First Baptist Church, Ellendale with Pastor Glenn Raynor officiating. Visitation is 2-6pm Sunday with a prayer service at 5pm all at Hoven Funeral Chapel, Ellendale. Visitation continues one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen, SD. Arrangements by Hoven Funeral Chapel.
