Ruby E. Johnson, 98 of Aberdeen, SD formerly of Ellendale, ND died February 23, 2018 at Aberdeen Health and Rehab. Ruby was born May 17, 1919 to Edward Knut and Laura (Rowland) Chindberg at Fullerton, ND. She was raised and educated at Fullerton, ND where she graduated from Fullerton High School. Ruby married LaVerne Johnson in Fullerton, ND on December 25, 1939. Ruby was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and Altar Society, Fullerton and later became a member of St. Helena’s Catholic Church, Ellendale. She enjoyed playing basketball in high school, playing cards, board games and crossword and jigsaw puzzles. She especially enjoyed reading western novels and listening to the Minnesota Twins. Ruby is survived by her two sons: Wayne (Sharon) Johnson, Hereford, AZ, Michael (Sandy) Johnson, Pueblo, CO; four grandchildren: Jennifer Johnson, Chandler, AZ, Mark Johnson, Hillsboro, OR, Joseph (Danita) Johnson, Pueblo, CO, Mindy Johnson, Pueblo, CO; four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two daughters: Mary (in infancy) and Patricia and one son: Dennis. Mass of Christian Burial is 11am Thursday, March 1, at St. Helena’s Catholic Church, Ellendale with Father Jason Asselin officiating. Visitation is Wednesday 3-8pm with a prayer service at 5:30pm all at Hoven Funeral Chapel, Ellendale. Visitation continues one hour prior to church services. Burial is at St. Helena’s Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements by Hoven Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Boys Town Nebraska, 14100 Crawford Street Boys Town, Nebraska 68010.
