Raymond H. Breitkreutz

Raymond “Ray” Harry Breitkreutz, 92, of Aberdeen, SD formerly of Frederick, SD was born May 24, 1917, in West Hanson Township NW of Ferney, SD on the Frank Breitkreutz homestead. He was the son of Harry and Augusta (Curtis) Breitkreutz. Ray was united in marriage to Helen Hoops on July 15, 1944, in Groton, SD. The couple lived on a farm near Ferney until 1952 when they bought a farm near Frederick. In 1966 they moved into Frederick. Ray was employed at the Jensen Farm Manufacturing Corporation and then the Brown County Highway Department until his retirement. Ray enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards and watching baseball games. He was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Ellendale, ND. He was also active in the construction of the church. Ray entered the Aberdeen Health and Rehab on April 13, 2009, where he resided until his death on January 20, 2010. Ray is survived by his wife: Helen Breitkreutz of Frederick, SD; one son Todd (Becky) Breitkreutz of Minot, ND; three daughters: Diana (Terry) Ulmer of Hecla, SD, Sheri (Roger) Nixon of Frederick, SD, Nancy (Randy) Warburton, of Newcastle, WY; seven grandchildren: Bobbi (Scott) Hegge, Lori (Scott) Young, Amy (Buddy) Yamaura, Amanda (Jason) Mahan, Carey (Brenda) Hieb, Jason (Jen) Hieb, Dustin Beitkreutz; nine great-grandchildren: Sami Hegge, Dylan & Macy Young, Ryann & Payge Yamaura, Jenna & Karissa Mahan, Jordan & Madison Hieb. Ray was preceded in death by his parents. The funeral service is 10:30am Tuesday, January 26, 2010, at Zion Lutheran Church, Ellendale with pastor Tyson Labuhn officiating. Visitation is 2-6pm Monday with a prayer service at 5pm at Hoven Funeral Chapel, Ellendale. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen, SD. Arrangements by Hoven Funeral Chapel.
