Rose M. Kitzinger

Rose “Rosie” Marie Kitzinger, 82 of Ellendale, ND was born July 2, 1927, in Ashley, ND. She was the daughter of Simon and Margret (Benfit) Tuchscher. The family moved to Ellendale in 1934 where Rosie attended elementary and high school, graduating in 1944. Following graduation she studied business office management at Ellendale Normal and Industrial School. She began employment as office deputy for both the Dickey County Judge and Register of Deeds. In 1950 she was employed at the Farmers Home Administration’s Ellendale office, working there 27 years before retiring. Rosie married Edward P. Kitzinger September 6, 1969. They enjoyed traveling, visiting family, square dancing, bowling, volunteer work and sharing company and friendships with many. She was a life long member of St. Helena’s Catholic Church, past member of Germans from Russia Heritage Society and served on several Jubilee Book committees for Ellendale. Family was very important to Rosie. She was devoted to assisting her mother for many years until her mother’s death in 1971. Rosie was unfailing in reaching out to her siblings. She was a special aunt always staying in touch; remembering family on special occasions. Following Ed’s death July 12, 1996, Rosie continued finding joy in serving her church, community and volunteering at Hoven Funeral Chapel. Grateful to have shared in her life are her sisters: Katherine Schaff, Billings, MT, Frances Hausmann, Pierre, SD; nieces, nephews, half-nieces, half-nephew, great-nieces, great-nephews, many cousins; sisters-in-law: Beatrice Titus, Oakes, ND, Agnes Kuch, Minneapolis, MN; many friends and wonderful staff at Prince of Peace Care Center who cared for Rosie until her death March 4, 2010. Preceding Rosie in death was her husband; parents; six brothers, three sisters, two half-brothers, two half-sisters, one nephew, an infant niece, one great-half-niece, four brothers-in-law, three sisters-in-law, one half-sister-in-law and one half-brother-in-law. The funeral service is 10:30am Monday at St. Helena's Catholic Church, Ellendale with Father John F. Kizito and Father Gary Luiten officiating. Visitation is 2-8pm Sunday with a prayer and rosary service at 7pm at Hoven Funeral Chapel, Ellendale. Burial is at St. Helena's Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements by Hoven Funeral Chapel, Ellendale.
