David Eberle

David C. Eberle, 79, died June 8, 2024 surrounded by his family at his farm home outside of Ellendale, ND. 

Dave was born March 1, 1945, at Edgeley, ND. When he was 6 months old his family moved to a farm west of Ellendale. He attended rural school and graduated from Ellendale High School in 1963. He attended 2 years of college at UND in Ellendale. He was drafted into the US Army in 1965, stationed at Ft. Belvoir, VA. He was honorably discharged in 1967. Dave worked as a shipping clerk in Memphis, TN for 4 years. In 1974 he returned to the farm. He did a harvest run from Kansas to Canada for 10 years.

Dave was an active member of St. Helena’s Catholic Church. Dave was on the parish council for 10 years, administrative committee for 6 years, and the cemetery board and member of Knights of Columbus at the time of his death. Dave was an assessor for the Elm township for 20 years. He enjoyed raising flower and vegetable gardens, starting his plants from seed every year. He was an amazing cook and baker, and took care of his “livestock” (barn cats).

Dave is survived by his siblings, Don Eberle, Shawnee, KS, Dolores (John) Martin, Groton, SD, and Charlotte Graves, Frederick, SD. Special nieces and nephews, Jamie Eberle (Justin Meidinger), Ellendale, ND. Ty, Diedra, Ben Mock, Monango, ND, Brandon Mock, Phoenix, AZ, Reva Graves, Tea, SD, Renee (Charlie) Mills, Sioux Falls, SD, John (Sharon) Martin, Spearfish, SD, Rosalie (Jason) Wylie, Olathe, KS, Lisa (Barry) Shellhorn, Kansas City, MO, Patrick (Amanda) Eberle, Olathe, KS, Erin (Brandon) Martin, Olathe, KS.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester and Frances (Zahn) Eberle, sister and brother-in-law, MaryAnn and Don Mock, sister-in-law Kathleen Eberle, brother-in-law, Glenn Graves and niece Joan Martin.

The funeral service is 10am Saturday, June 15, 2024 with Father Patrick Parks officiating. Visitation is 3pm-7pm Friday, June 14 with a prayer service at 7pm. All services and visitation will be held at St. Helena's Catholic Church, Ellendale. Burial with Military Honors is at St. Helena’s Church Cemetery, Ellendale.
