Donald Anderson

Donald L. Anderson, 81 of Ellendale, ND died August 2, 2018 at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital, Aberdeen, SD. Donald was born March 18, 1937 to Howard and Esther (Haberman) Anderson in Aberdeen. He attended school in Ellendale and graduated from Ellendale High School. Donald married DuAnn Steinwand on June 29, 1958 at Zion Lutheran Church, Ellendale. Donald joined the National Guard and after their marriage, he farmed until farmed until 1971 when he moved to Ellendale. He was employed with the Dickey County Highway Department and later Ellendale Grain and Seed until 1980. Donald started Anderson Construction that he owned and operated until 1986. He later began working for Moorhead Electric and Border states. Most recently, Donald was employed by Gary and James Tiegs until 2017. Donald was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church, the church council and took pride in mowing the church lawn. He was also a member of the Ellendale Volunteer Fire Department and American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with his friends and especially his family. He is survived by his son: Kevin Anderson, Ipswich, SD; daughters: Konnie Kay Anderson, Aberdeen, SD, Samantha Anderson, Ipswich, SD; grandchildren: Sean Anderson, Jake Anderson, Lexi Anderson, Drew Anderson, Brett Anderson, Tyler Pernsteiner, Zachary Anderson, Genie Anderson, Erin Anderson; and great-grandchild: Carson Regula. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, wife DuAnn, one infant daughter and his sister Joyce.A memorial service is 10:30am Friday, August 10 at Christ the King Lutheran Church, Ellendale with Pastor Justin Brotzel officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to church services. Burial is at Ellendale City Cemetery. Arrangements by Hoven Funeral Chapel, Ellendale.
