Duane “Duey” Lawrence Aman, 66 of Ellendale, ND died September 17, 2026 at Benedictine Living Community, Ellendale. He was born April 6, 1960 to Lawrence Emil and Darlene Elaine (Dathe) Aman in Ellendale. He attended school in Ellendale and graduated in 1978. He began his working career at John Deere in Ellendale when it was known as Zimmermans. He worked there as a mechanic. For many years, Duane worked for local farmers throughout the community. He had a natural ability for mechanic work. He was a faithful employee and willing to help with repairs well into the evening hours. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, excelling at trap shooting being a top shooter. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Ellendale and the Ellendale and Oakes Trap Club.

Duane was survived by his mother: Darlene Aman; one brother: Dale Aman; one sister: Joan (Terry) Farthing; Aunts: Lucy Grueneich, EvaMae Geisert and Sandra (Duane) Woehl; Uncles: Norman, Ralph, Willard, Donald and Kenneth Dathe; brother-in-law: Kenny Scallon; two nephews: Tim (Rebekah) Scallon and Kent Scallon.

He was preceded in death by his father: Lawrence Aman and one sister: Elaine Scallon.

* A memorial service will be 11:00am Friday, September 25, 2026 at Hoven Funeral Chapel, Ellendale with visitation one hour prior to the memorial service. Duane’s service will be live streamed at hovenfuneralchapel.com on his obituary page. Burial is at Christ Lutheran Albion Cemetery, rural Ellendale. There will be a time of fellowship and food following burial beginning at 1:00pm at the Ellendale American Legion Event Center. It is Duane’s wishes that everyone dress casual or in hunting attire.
