Edna Ann Scherman

Edna Ann (Krein) Scherman, 101 of Ellendale, ND died November 12, 2022 at Benedictine Living Community, Ellendale. A memorial service will be held 10am Saturday, June 24, 2023 at St. Helena's Catholic Church, Ellendale with Father Patrick Parks officiating. The service will be live-streamed here on Edna's obituary page. Arrangements by Hoven Funeral Chapel, Ellendale.

Edna was born on the South Dakota family farm October 4, 1921 and was the last remaining member of her family of 3 boys and 3 girls. After graduating from Leola, SD high school she took classes at Northern in Aberdeen SD and went on to teach grades 1-8 in a country school. Her marriage to Paul J. Scherman was blessed with 4 children living for many years in Wishek, ND. She worked as a bookkeeper at a local elevator and was involved as a Girl Scout leader. Mom always loved to learn. After moving to Ellendale ND and with all children away from home she went on to become an LPN and certified as a medical records coder. Her love of reading continued her whole life and she passed that love to her children. When she was not able to visually read she listened to hours of audio books. She instilled independence in her 4 children and leaves them along with 7 grandchildren, 9 great grand children and many nieces to relive all the wonderful memories. Mom attained a milestone of 101 years prior to her death on November 12, 2022 and will be fondly remembered as a devout Catholic with a great wit, sense of humor and love for her family. Mom will be greatly missed and is now united with Dad in heaven.
