Esther Wolff

Esther Virginia Nee (Schwarz) Wolff, 93 of Ellendale, ND formerly of Monango, ND died December 7, 2020 at her home. She was born July 24, 1927 at Wirch, ND in McIntosh County. The daughter of Edward and Rachel Flagel Schwarz. She was baptized and confirmed on December 23, 1955 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Monango, ND by Rev. Walter T. Eifert. Esther attended country school in the Forbes vicinity. In 1948, Esther was employed at the North Wood Fur Farm in Gary, IL. Esther married Richard Wolff on April 18, 1948 in Crystal Lake, IL by Rev. G.A. Gehra. Esther and Richard lived in Danzig, Ellendale and finally settled in Monango, ND. In Monango, they had their own business keeping bees and extracting honey. Esther was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and a cook at Monango Public School. She enjoyed doing crafts, gardening, and photography for weddings and centennials in Monango, Merricourt and Forbes. Esther enjoyed collecting and recording family history. She was the source for many people and their genealogy projects. She belonged to the Germans from Russia Heritage Society. Her husband Richard passed away October 13, 1992. She sold her home in Monango and moved to Ellendale September 5, 1996. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard, two brothers, Marvin Schwartz and Harry Schwartz. She leaves one son, George Wolff of Las Vegas, NV, three daughters Virginia Evans of Bismarck, ND, Rosella Wolff of Sequim, WA, and Carol Wolff of Carson City, NV. Six Grandchildren: Amy Dutcher, Mark Wolff, Matthew Neitzke, Rachel Neitzke, Danielle Martinovich and Lindsey Miller; two great-grandchildren, one nephew and three nieces. The funeral is 10am Thursday, December, 17 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Forbes, ND with Pastor Alan Eppen officiating. Visitation is one hour prior to the service. Burial is at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, rural Forbes. Please follow Covid-19 guidelines.
