John J. Wollmann

February 20, 1946 — January 19, 2020

John J. Wollmann was born February 20, 1946 to Jacob and Maria Wollmann at Plum Coulee, Manitoba. At the age of 4 years he moved to Blumengard, South Dakota where he resided till the age of 23. He was baptized in 1968 at the age of 22. Later, he was called to work at Custer State Park at a CO Camp for 2 years. In 1969, he moved to Maple River Colony and November 8, 1970 he was united in marriage to Mary Waldner, the love of his life. They spent 49 happy years together and were blessed with 6 children and 19 grandchildren. He loved to be surrounded by his family and dearly loved his grandchildren. Hours before his death on January 19, 2020, he still held his arms open to welcome them with hugs. Dad served the community faithfully and enjoyed the jobs that were bestowed him. Whether it was Dairy Man which he worked with for 23 years, Zul Bruder for a number of years, a short time as German School Teacher for younger children or doing chicken deliveries with his brother-in-law Zack. From 2000 to 2016 he worked at Northland Steel & Trim, a job he thoroughly enjoyed and always was on his mind. In 2016, due to a work-related accident, he was unable to continue doing the things he loved, like mowing his lawn and keeping it free of weeds. In his spare time, you could find him fixing broken toys or other broken knick-knacks and singing his favorite hymns morning and night. A funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at Maple River Colony, Fullerton, ND.
