Leona Wolff

Leona (Hoffman) Wolff, 93 of Ellendale, ND formerly of Forbes, ND died October 9, 2018 at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital, Aberdeen, SD. She was born June 11, 1925 in Forbes to Gottlieb and Carolina (Walz) Hoffman. Leona was baptized July 12, 1925 and confirmed July 21, 1940 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Forbes. She was educated in Forbes, graduating from Forbes High School on May 26, 1944. On April 20, 1945 she married Christ Wolff. This marriage was blessed with two children. During World War II, Leona worked in the shipyards in Vancouver, WA. They returned to Forbes and in 1955 they moved to their farm near Forbes. In 1998 Leona and Christ moved into Forbes where they lived until Christ died February 11, 2017. After his death, Leona moved to Evergreen Place, Ellendale. She enjoyed quilting, reading, gardening, baking-specializing in yeast breads and spending 12 years wintering in Texas. Leona is survived by her daughter: Judy (Floyd) Westerman, son: Anthony Wolff; granddaughter Samantha (Aaron) Tomschin; brother-in-law: Ted (Karen) Wolff and several nieces and nephews. Leona was preceded in death by her husband, parents, four brothers and two sisters. The funeral is 11am Friday, October 12 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Forbes, ND with pastor Alan Eppen officiating. Visitation is one hour prior to services at the church. Due to weather conditions, burial is at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, rural Forbes will be held at a later date.
