A funeral service is 2pm Thursday, May 27 at Presbyterian United Methodist Church, Ellendale with Pastor Barbara Krumm officiating. Visitation is one hour prior to the service. Burial is at Ellendale City Cemetery. Marcella J. Schlenker, 89 of Ellendale ND died December 30, 2020 at Benedictine Living Community, Ellendale. Marcella was born August 7, 1931 to Michael and Josephine Forster, Lidgerwood, ND. She attended public school there. Marcella was the youngest of her three sisters Francis, Helen and Lorraine. On January 4, 1956, Marcella married Reuben D. Schlenker of Forbes, ND in Los Angeles, CA where they lived for a short time. In 1957 they moved to Ellendale and in 1962 built a new home. Marcella became the wonderful mother of two children, Kenda and Kevin. She was a member of the Presbyterian United Methodist Church, Ellendale, Sunshine Homemakers club, helped serve lunch at auction sales, a member of the VFW Womens Auxiliary, 60-year member of the American Legion and Legion Drill Team, Ellendale. She loved working with ceramics, making many beautiful pieces and making many friendships and memories over the years. She became a resident at Prince of Peace in August 2015. Marcella is survived by her son Kevin Schlenker, Huron, SD, granddaughter: Kristin Lefforge, Ellendale, ND; son-in-law: John Lefforge, Ellendale, ND; three nieces: Shirley Shepherd, Dillon, MT, Bonnie (Derrell) Wutzke, Billings, MT, Sandy (Tom) Koehler, Turlock, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband Reuben, Daughter Kenda, sisters: Helen, Francis and Lorraine. Arrangements by Hoven Funeral Chapel, Ellendale.
