Patricia Ann Brandenburger

Patricia Ann (Lien) Brandenburger, 74, of Ellendale, ND, passed away surrounded by her children on December 28, 2019 at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital in Aberdeen, SD. Pat was born September 2, 1945 to Malcolm and Gladys (Olson)Lien in Iola, Wisconsin. She graduated from Iola High School in 1963. She married Roger Brandenburger on June 15, 1963. They made their home in many places throughout Wisconsin, traveling for Roger’s work. In 1977 they moved back to the family farm near Forbes, North Dakota, where they lived until Pat and Roger moved to Ellendale in 1993. Pat was a homemaker for the first half of her life. She spent time raising sheep and chickens, watching the neighborhood children, hunting, fishing and creating many sewn treasures for friends and family. Pat was an accomplished seamstress. She made marching jackets for the American Legion Auxiliary, Care Bears, outfits and doll clothes, as well as almost anything else that was requested. Pat began working outside of the home as a waitress at the NoDak Café in Ellendale in 1990. When Fargo Assembly opened a plant in Ellendale, Pat applied and become employee number 3 in Ellendale. She remained working at Fargo Assembly in Quality Control until the plant closed in Ellendale in 2018. Pat loved her family and friends dearly. She enjoyed spending time visiting with anyone that had a moment, and she loved attending her grandchildren’s events. She also enjoyed hunting and fishing with Roger, hunting for bargains while shopping and watching the Packers on Sunday. Pat is survived by her son, Keith (Kerry) Brandenburger and children Madison and Craig of Aberdeen, SD; three daughters: Suzanne (Douglas) Straus and children Ryan (Rebekah), Tim, Mike, Jeff (Evie), Jennifer, Daniel and Jason of West Fargo, Val (Mark) Wagner and children Ian, Scott, Evan and Eli of Monango, Amy (Garrett) Mittleider and children Kiley, Kaden, Garrett (Samantha), Becca, Wyatt and BreAnna of Frederick, SD; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters: Judy (Jerry) Kaminski of Kissimee, FL; Sandy Carter of Lawrenceburg, KY; and Shelly Kunzman of Iola, WI; many nieces, nephews and those that she considered relatives by choice. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers, one son and one grandson. A memorial service is10am Thursday, January 2, 2020 at Presbyterian United Methodist Church, Ellendale with Luke 10 Ministries officiating. Visitation is 2-5pm January 1 with a prayer service at 5:30pm all at Hoven Funeral Chapel, Ellendale. Burial will be at Ellendale City Cemetery in the spring. Arrangements by Hoven Funeral Chapel.
