Robert A. Merkel

Robert A. Merkel, 66 of Ellendale, ND died November 17, 2020 at Prince of Peace Care Center, Ellendale. There will be a private committal service at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND. Arrangements by Hoven Funeral Chapel, Ellendale. Robert Merkel was born on May 19, 1954 to Arthur and Karon (Neitzel), Merkel in Aberdeen, SD. Bob grew up on a farm north of Forbes. Bob went to school and graduated from Forbes Public School. Bob went to mechanics school in Billings, Montana before entering the Army on January 3, 1974. Bob married for a short time to Margaret (Charlie) and had one child Carol. Bob loved to farm and worked for various farmers in the area. Bob died peacefully on November 17th at Prince of Peace Care Center. Bob is survived by his mother Karon Anliker, Ellendale, one sister, Cindy (Merkel) Kronberg of Ellendale, 3 brothers, Rod (Carol) Merkel of South Heart, ND, Rusty (Holly) of Aberdeen, SD, Ross (Amanda) of Ellendale, Chantelle (Robert) Rohr of Lennox, SD, and many, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Merkel, daughter, Carol Merkel, and both sets of grandparents.
