Rosemary A. Krein

Rosemary A. (Jacob) Krein 84, of Ellendale, ND passed away peacefully surrounded by family on September 7, 2026 at Benedictine Living Community, Ellendale. Rosemary was born January 4, 1942 to Valentine Jacob Jr. and Frances (Tuchscherer) Jacob. She attended rural school in the Strasburg area. She worked in Mobridge, SD at various jobs. On April 1, 1968 Rosemary married Darold Moser and they moved to Mound City, SD where they had their children Duwaine and Amy. They later separated. Rosemary married Rollin Krein on November 19, 1977 in Sidney, MT where their children Loretta and Keney were born. They resided there until 1981 when they moved to Ellendale. Rosemary worked various jobs in Ellendale until 1991 when she became a CNA and worked for Benedictine Living Community. She retired in 2017 at age 75. On October 23, 2024 Rosemary entered Benedictine Living Community where she resided until her death. Rosemary had a strong faith in God. She was a member of St. Helena's Catholic Church, Ellendale where she was a member of the Altar Society and also helped clean the church. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, gardening, flowers, canning and just being outdoors. She enjoyed her time in the Black Hills of SD, a trip to Las Vegas with co-workers and multiple trips to Denver, CO with family. Rosemary loved the color red to the extent that she even spray painted her own household appliances red! Survivors include her children Duwaine, Amy Loretta and Keney, and grandchildren: Ryder and Zachary. She was preceded in death by parents, siblings: Anton, Irene, Romanus and Kasper.

A memorial service is 10:30am Saturday, September 12, 2026 at St. Helena's Catholic Church, Ellendale with Father Patrick Parks officiating. Visitation will begin 9:30am at the church with a Rosary at 10am. Burial is at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church Cemetery, Strasburg, ND at a later date.
