Sandra K. Berens

Sandra K. Berens, 78 of Ellendale, ND died peacefully April 24, 2026 at Oakes Good Samaritan Society, Oakes, ND. She was born November 3, 1947 in Charleston, West Virginia. She was the daughter of Howard and Marjorie Jane (Howery) Johnson. After her high school graduation, Sandra worked as private security for the Grand Ole Opry, Nashville, TN, and later at Melroe Bobcat in Gwinner, ND as a security guard. In 1984 Sandra met the love of her life, William “Bill” Berens in Aberdeen, SD and they were married September 5, 1986. They moved to Tennessee for a while, later returning to the midwest in 1989 and settled in Ellendale, ND. In Ellendale, Sandra worked at Prince of Peace Center and was a member of the Ellendale Fireman’s Auxiliary. Sandra enjoyed playing bingo, cards, bowling, drawing pictures, gardening and keeping up the yard. Survivors include her children Gordon Johnson, Aberdeen, SD, Crystal (Vince) Olson, Frederick, SD, Connie (Tony) Turnbill, Ellendale, ND, Nicholas Berens, Rapid City, SD, and Cindy Berens, Belmont, SD. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Bill Berens and one son Wendell Johnson.

A memorial service will be held 1pm Sunday, May 3, 2026 at Presbyterian United Methodist Church, Ellendale, with Pastor Becca Hafner officiating. Burial will be at Ellendale City Cemetery. Arrangements by Hoven Funeral Chapel, Ellendale.
