Susan Ellen Hasz, 82 of Ellendale, ND, died peacefully with her daughter, Lauri, and her friend, Mary, at her side on February 15, 2024, at Oakes Good Samaritan Society, Oakes, ND. Susan was born on November 11, 1941, in Windom, MN to George and Minnie Courts. She was the eldest of their two daughters of their blended family of eventually seven children. With their parents, Susan and younger sister, Nancy, wintered in Weslaco, TX and summered in Windom, MN. She had many fond memories of their travels back and forth, always stopping to visit family in Okeene, Oklahoma. She graduated from Weslaco High School in 1960. After graduation, she moved to Minneapolis and attended Northwestern Bible College in St. Paul, MN for a year and then worked in downtown Minneapolis. She met Dennis Hasz and was married at First Baptist Church of Windom, MN in September 1963. Susan and Dennis eventually settled in Ellendale, ND, to farm with Denny’s parents. They raised their three daughters, Shellie, Lauri, Kimberly, and their granddaughter, Jennifer, and greatly enjoyed the love and activities of their children and grandchildren. Susan worked at Dickey County Social Services in Ellendale and made good friends while working there. She also loved telling children about the love of Jesus as a Sunday school teacher at the United Methodist Church. Susan is remembered for her gentle spirit, kind ways and love for her family and their dogs. Susan is survived by daughters, Lauri (Scott) Uecker, Kimberly (Wade) Kemmet, and son-in-law Dean Hovey. Grandchildren Jennifer (Kirk) Glynn, Evan Hovey, Samantha, Sydnie, and Olivia Hustoft, Melanie Filbert, Taylor, Riley, and Chase Kemmet; great grandchildren Kadince and Kimber Glynn, Quinley Nelson and Hunter Filbert; sister Nancy (Don) Gilberg and brother Tom (Michelle) Courts plus many other relatives and friends.
